On 30 June 2026, we strengthened how projects (which group your applications) are managed in Environment Online to improve consistency, control and data quality.

What this means for you

For Service Users

  • You’ll continue using Environment Online as usual
  • Access to your existing projects has not changed
  • You’ll now request a new project or access in Environment Online or from your Service Administrator, rather than creating or editing projects yourself
  • You may use the default project if a suitable project is not available

For Service Administrators

  • You’ll now manage project creation, updates and access for your organisation
  • You’ll support users by assigning access or creating new projects where needed
  • You may receive requests from users for project access or new projects
  • New visibility settings allow you to control who can access projects
  • A default project is available to all users in your organisation to support continuity, and submissions can be reassigned to a more suitable project as required
