Register an organisation using a Microsoft Work Account

01 May 2026 (Published: 28 April 2026)

IN THIS ARTICLE:

If your organisation is new to Environment Online, this page will help you understand how to register using a Microsoft Work Account (Microsoft Entra ID).

This option is suited to organisations with IT teams that centrally manage identity and access.

Before you start

Your organisation will need:

  • Microsoft Entra ID P1 licence
  • an IT Administrator to complete setup
  • a nominated Service Administrator
  • a completed Authorisation form (Form 2 - Microsoft Work Account).

Step-by-step setup

Step 1 – Complete the Microsoft Work Account setup

Your organisation’s IT Administrator must complete the Microsoft Entra ID setup requirements, including:

  • creating the Environment Online application, which will generate a tenant ID code needed for step 2
  • creating both admin and user groups within the new Microsoft Work application, which will be needed for step 2
  • ensuring multi-factor authentication (MFA) for relevant users
  • configuring the required app permissions (if applicable).

Step 2 – Complete the Authorisation form

  1. Download the Authorisation form.
  2. Complete the relevant section for the Microsoft Work Account option.
  3. Nominate your organisation’s Service Administrator.
  4. Ensure the form is signed by someone with authority to bind the organisation.

Step 3 – Email the form to EO Support

Send the completed form to eosupport@dwer.wa.gov.au.

EO Support will use the information in the form to create or update your organisation’s entity profile in Environment Online.

Step 4 – EO Support sets up your organisation

Once EO Support processes your form:

  • the organisation’s entity profile is created or updated
  • the Service Administrator and IT team are notified
  • Microsoft Work Account login integration is enabled.

If your organisation already exists in Environment Online, EO Support will update the profile instead of creating a new one.

Step 5 – Add Service Administrators and Service Users

After Environment Online confirms setup:

Your IT team must assign users to either of the appropriate Microsoft Entra ID groups:

  • Service Administrators - manage access for the organisation in Environment Online
  • Service Users - act on behalf of the organisation in Environment Online

This step ensures users are granted the correct Environment Online permissions.

Step 6 – Log in using a Microsoft Work Account

Users log in by selecting: Login with your Microsoft Work Account.

Environment Online will authenticate using your organisation’s standard MFA process.

If a user logs in but cannot see the organisation, they must contact the IT Administrator to confirm they are assigned to the group.
